Gentleness: It’s Not What You Think is very well written and has much needed leadership discussion. Gentleness is a fruit of the Spirit, but it is not talked about very much in our day. While we want to be strong leaders, gentleness is often associated with weakness and timidity. But Debbie shows the real strength that is required to be gentle. She skillfully uses original language to show the meaning of gentleness in scripture. She also includes research from other disciplines to show how important it is in our culture today. I think this book is very timely, being released at at a time when we see a lot of angry opinions and general meanness in our culture which is revealing inadequacies, we have rather than strength. So this is a good time for us as leders, parents, and citizens to consider why God places value on this attribute of godliness. I know everyone wants to learn how to be a stronger leader that increases influences, but gentleness is needed for this very thing. The book is a good read, very interesting, and will challenge in a helpful way.
