Time to Roar—Part 2

Time to Roar-Part 2

The Lion is roaring, releasing the glory

Your voice is thundering!

In the last post, found here, I started to write about the Lion’s roar. The roar of the Lion of Judah continues to sound in the Spirit, signaling victorious battle. Yes, we engage in battle in this life, but it isn’t through striving and arguments. It’s through faith.

When we look around us, it can be hard to remember that our battle isn’t against “flesh and blood” but against the “rulers of darkness” as it says in Ephesians 6:12. The things we encounter in this life can be distracting and cause us to step out of line with God’s roar, but if we can remain fiercely focused on Him, He is able to release His roar—His glory—through us.

What does it look like? Great question. It’ll look the same—yet uniquely different—for each person. Confusing, right? Well…it can be, but God has given us examples of this principle. Let’s take snowflakes, for example. People have been able to capture images of snowflakes and have discovered that each snowflake is unique. There are no two snowflakes exactly the same. Yet…each snowflake is an individual micro-piece of crystallized water with six sides that comes together on Earth in the form of blankets of snow, piles of shoveled and plowed snow, snowmen, snowballs, snow forts, and many other things. Grains of sand would be another example.

So, what does it look like when God’s glory roars through each one of us? The defining characteristics—the presence of God, the character of God, the love of God—are the same. But the expression? As unique as each individual is. Sure, we are imperfect human beings and make mistakes so perfect character and perfect love are not the goal, but the evidence of God’s presence in my life should be there. How God expresses Himself through me is different from the way He expresses Himself through a friend or another person at another church. Why?

Because I myself only have one personality, one gift set, and one skill set. God is FAR GREATER and FAR MORE COMPLEX than any one human being could ever be! In order to have a more comprehensive representation of God’s character, creativity, and heart, we need more than one person to release the roar of God through his or her life! We need more than two or three or ten! We need MANY! When put together, the extreme complexity and beauty of God’s nature is more fully seen. That’s why He calls us to work TOGETHER! Alone we can only make a one-note sound, but God wants the world to hear an orchestra! Alone we are only one snowflake, but God wants mounds of snow, snowmen, snow forts, snow angels, snowballs, and many other creations. He doesn’t want uniformity! He wants UNITY! He wants a beautifully, complex interworking of unique individuals coming together, each releasing His sound through their lives just the way He created them to!

So let’s ditch the myth of unity through uniformity, embrace who God made us to be, and let His love and glory roar through us. We can release the sound of His roar, a sound unique to us, and be part of God’s thunderous Lion’s roar in the Earth at this time!
