TIME TO PAUSE
As I sit at my kitchen table with my laptop to write this post on this beautiful, quiet fall morning, there is one sense that is strong in my spirit. You know, the kind that makes you get up and DO.
BUILD!
There is such a deep sense that God is actively building. And, yes, of course, He is ALWAYS building, so perhaps, this deep sense is more reflective of a personal role He has me playing in this season of my life. Let me explain.
In the fall of 2023, God placed a strong call on my life. Digital discipleship. Several months later, He dropped another hint. Metaverse ministry. Of course, I THOUGHT I had the full revelation, and, in true to me fashion, dove right into a whole new world. VRChat.
It was wild. It was fantastic. It was full of creativity and amazing people from all around the globe. It was also very dark. Not gonna lie, it took more than a bit to get my metalegs under me.
I had no idea what I was actually doing in there other than meeting people, building relationships, and doing my best to shine the light and hope of Jesus. Then it came. Start gathering. So, I ran my first ever group. And the entire platform crashed. Globally. No kidding.
Then it came. The bombshell in my spirit that sent me spiraling through thoughts like Who do You think I am, God? Am I REALLY called to THAT?!
Church planting. It shocked me to the core of who I thought I was and challenged me to trust God in a whole new way. Am I REALLY that person? My entire life up to that moment, I truly believed I was called to itinerant ministry. You know, that speaker that goes from church to church and event to event. (For those of you reading this and wondering, YES, I do still take speaking engagements and have a real heart for that.) But what God was clearly calling me to was something different entirely, and since there is only one who could be wrong in this equation (and it wasn’t God), I was going to have to shift my entire belief system about my function here on this planet. It’s not super easy to change over 40 years of self-belief. It took months of prayer, months of yielding, months of allowing God to shift the deepest parts of me, but He is so faithful and able!
It is now over a year after the soft launch of a new church model which we have dubbed hybrid, and the sense deep in my spirit is B-U-I-L-D. Build the vision, build His people, build His kingdom in the way He has assigned me. And so, with that, you will see some changes here on this website and on my social media because…well…I am only one person and still have family priorities to keep a priority.
In this season of building, I am taking a pause from podcasting. This decision has come with a huge mix of emotions. I have LOVED helping others share their hearts, their ministries, and their projects. I hope to resume again in the somewhat near future, but it is fully dependent upon how this building season goes and the amount of time it requires.
I will also be taking a pause from all public Deborah Henne postings, including blogging. Again, this comes with a huge mix of emotions. I DO plan to resume the release of prophetic words as He gives them and allows me to share, blogging, and putting up general encouraging words and verses, so keep watch for a return in early 2027.
With all the pausing, know that I AM continuing to write books, and hope to have one ready to publish for purchase by next Christmas. This particular project is VERY close to my heart and is super special to me (you’ll see why next year, sorry, but I’m going to leave you hanging on this one), and I hope and am full of faith that it will be a blessing to families. I also hope to have another song out sooner rather than later. I guess what I’m saying is…
I’m NOT saying good-bye, and I’m NOT stopping. If anything, I am working VERY hard behind the scenes to pursue what God has put on my heart, but I absolutely need to take a pause from the (mostly) daily social media postings in order to do that in this season of my life where I am juggling many many many things. I am excited for all the adventures God has, and I will see you all soon!
